How to Focus in Class When Your Mind Is at Home
You're sitting in class, but you're not really there. The teacher is talking, and your mind is back at home, replaying last night.
If this is you, nothing is wrong with you. A mind carrying a heavy load finds it hard to focus. Here are five small things that can help:
Name it. Quietly tell yourself, "I'm worried about home right now." Naming a feeling makes it smaller.
Write it down. Keep a small notebook. Write what's on your mind, then close it. You can come back to it later.
Pick one anchor. Focus on one thing: the teacher's voice, or the next sentence on the board.
Breathe slowly. In for four counts, out for six. Do it three times.
Tell one safe adult. A teacher, a counsellor, an aunt, a neighbour. You don't have to carry this alone.
Your grades don't define you, and a hard season doesn't mean a hard future. Keep showing up. 💛
